Nightmare Dethl

Nightmare Dethl, the final boss from Link's awakening.

Now I know what you're going to say if you've been following this series of Zelda bosses I have been doing. I missed out a whole bunch of bosses, as this particular boss has several forms it takes on. However, since the forms it takes are of bosses that appear earlier in the game, I decided to just do the final form. I don't want to repeat myself in this series.

Nightmare Dethl reminds me very much of the Pokemon Magnamite. Dethl looks like a machine rather than an actual creature or animal, so I kept this idea in the design, making the arms like mechanical weapons. It is kept in darkness, giving it a mysterious feeling; you can't quite figure out exactly what this thing is, but the picture on the whole is still readable; you can still see the shape of the thing.

In more recent pieces I had attempted to give more depth to the drawing, blurring out parts that are far away, drawing back from putting so much detail into these things, focusing more on the poses and the design than the actual textures of the creatures. When I get used to this new style I will put more detail in but for now lets stick with simplicity. Less is more they say.
