FEED ME!! :P

And here is Manhandla, the third boss in The Legend of Zelda.

It's name makes me lol...

Anyway, Manhandla is as I have said the third boss in the very first Legend of Zelda game. It also appears in Oracle of Seasons, Four Swords and Four Swords Adventures. Manhandla is a huge man eating flower that can spin in place. It has four 'hands' that it shoots out to catch Link, like a fly trapper plant. But it also moves very slowly, which makes it an easy boss to defeat.

In every game it appears in it has a different design. In early games it appears as a blue man eating plant with hands shapes like turtle heads. In later games he is orange, and looks like something that should be in a supermario game. In four sword adventures though each 'hand' is a different colour. The hands are sometimes shown as different flowers as well.

In my design though I wanted it to have it's original colour; blue. Plant monsters are a reoccuring thing in the Zelda games and I love drawing them, mainly because one of my favourite films is Little Shop of Horrors. I m a huge Monster Movie fan, and the idea of a man eating killer plant is both funny and disturbing to me. I wanted to have Manhandla look like it was related to Audrey 2 from Little Shop of Horrors as I love the design of him in that film. I kept his design simple and as close to the original design as possible; its main body being a toadstool and the hands or heads being like fly trappers. I gave these guys huge red teeth instead of the long sharp thorns in their mouths because...it was easier to draw...and was more appealing to me.

Note: I messed up when drawing this guy. I forgot to duplicate the final inking layer so the colour and the linework is in the same layer. If I hadn't done that I would have given it a lot more texture and transparency, making it look like light was coming from inside it. Oh well, plenty more plant monsters in this series, so we will try again with that. Next up, Boss number four!
