Gooma

Gooma, the Minotaur.

"You are SO stupid you think a Minotaur is a short vacation!!!" (bonus points if you know what that is from! )

Although Gooma is the fifth boss in the Legend of Zelda; The Adventure of Link he has also heavilly influenced the mobs that would turn up in later games.

Gooma was depicted as a giant, a man with a bull's head, armed with a ball and chain, wearing very little clothing. I didn't change much in his design at all, except the head. The head is sort of a cross between a bull and a warthog. I gave him tusks, reminiscent of Disney's Beast from Beauty and the beast. I guess that design heavily influenced this. For reference I looked at photos of wart hogs and cows as well as Bullocks and Oxen. The horns are shaped like a Spanish bull, or a highland cow. He has the hands of a man but the feet of a bull.

Gooma is obviously designed after the Minotaur from greek mythology, the half man, half bull monster. There have been many different interpretations on inexactly how the two halfs are balanced. Some show the Minotaur as a centaur, the full body of a bull and the torso of a man, but the head of a bull. Others show him with the body of a bull but the head of a man with sharp teeth. Whenever I picture the Minotaur I always see more Bull than man. He has the head and legs of a bull but the torso and arms of a man. He is covered in fur and has a long tail. His eyes shine like gold and his face boasts with pride and confidence in his size and strength. He is muscular; built like Hercules with strong solid legs and arms and huge bulging muscles. This thing could easily break down walls.
